Snorkel & Elephant Trunk Exhaust Arms

When a full enclosing fume hood isn't practical, snorkel exhaust arms capture fumes directly at the source — open bench processes, equipment exhausts, hot plates, and ovens. Flexible arm reach, canopy and slot hood options, and full ductwork coordination by USLabs LLC.

When a Snorkel Is the Right Choice

Snorkel exhausts fill the gap between a full enclosing fume hood and no ventilation at all. They're the right solution when:

Equipment is too large to fit inside a fume hood
Processes generate heat or fumes but don't require full enclosure
Ductwork for a full hood is impractical or cost-prohibitive
Multiple bench positions need spot ventilation coverage
Existing hoods are at capacity and a second hood isn't justified
Temporary or flexible ventilation is needed for changing workflows

Snorkel Exhaust Options & Configurations

We supply and install the full range of flexible arm exhaust systems, coordinated with your building exhaust and HVAC contractor.

Flexible Arm Reach

Articulating arms extend 30–60" from the wall or ceiling mount, positioning the capture hood directly at the fume source — equipment exhausts, open vessels, or bench processes.

Canopy & Slot Hood Options

Canopy hoods capture rising heat and fumes from hot plates and ovens. Slot hoods provide low-profile capture at bench level for processes that can't be enclosed.

Ductwork Coordination

We coordinate snorkel exhaust installation with your HVAC contractor, including duct sizing, fan selection, and connection to your building exhaust system.

Elephant Trunk Exhausts

Heavy-duty flexible elephant trunk exhausts for high-volume fume capture at large equipment — autoclaves, ovens, digestors, and industrial-scale processes.

Ceiling & Wall Mount Configurations

Ceiling-mounted snorkels drop down to the work surface; wall-mounted arms swing out over the bench. Both configurations available for any lab layout.

Chemical-Resistant Materials

Snorkel arms and capture hoods available in PVC, polypropylene, and stainless steel for compatibility with acids, bases, solvents, and corrosive vapors.
